Announcing the ‘In Polite Company’ podcast

I am thrilled to announce the launch of a podcast collaboration; a project that’s been in the works for many months - with a great friend, and former colleague - Kieron-Scott Woodhouse. Kieron is an incredible Design leader in the tech space, and someone I regularly go to for advice, guidance, support, and creative inspiration.

As a fellow Black LGBTQ+ person who has had to navigate the not-so-diverse world of tech leadership, Kieron understands what it’s like for those of us from historically marginalised backgrounds, who are striving to achieve great things in a system that doesn’t always welcome us with open arms.

In one of our recent conversations, we agreed that - despite our imposter-syndrome-laden excuses (‘who needs another podcast’, ‘do we really have anything interesting to say’) - we would take the plunge and share our thoughts, experiences, and perspectives on the many issues that affect us.

In Polite Company is the result. We hope that lending our voices inspires others like us to do the same, and that our discussions spark interest for anyone who is passionate about creating positive change in their communities.

Our first episode focuses on the recent mass layoffs in tech, and their impact on DEI . How might this pattern of redundancies disproportionately affect the wave of recent hires made by companies in the wake of the BLM protests of 2020? Are people from historically marginalised backgrounds bearing the brunt of tokenistic policies that are now being scrapped at the first sign of difficulty? Join us, as we dissect the uncomfortable reality.

Please listen, subscribe, share - and send us your thoughts!
